The GP Mental Health Treatment items in the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) provide a structure for GPs to manage patients with mental disorders.

Psychology Referral Process

  1. Refer to our psychologists by preparing a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan and email it to us: admin@fulhamconsulting.com.au. You can address your referral to a particular psychologist or in general, to “Psychologists at Fulham Consulting”.

  2. Once your referral (and MHTP) has been received, we will contact your patient to arrange an appointment.

  3. We will correspond with you regarding your patient as clinically appropriate and in compliance with the MBS reporting requirements.

Psychiatry Referral Process

  1. Email your Specialist Referral to admin@fulhamconsulting.com.au.

  2. Once received, the referral is reviewed and if accepted, we will contact your patient to arrange an appointment.

  3. Dr Caniato and Dr Lazzari will correspond with you regarding your patient as clinically appropriate and in compliance with the MBS reporting requirements.

Individuals may self-refer without a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.  Without a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, full private fees apply and there is no Medicare rebate.  Some private health funds will cover psychology services and you should contact your health fund for more information.  Call us to discuss what you need and to arrange an appointment.  Please call (07) 4728 5209.
