He briefly worked as a general practitioner before completing his psychiatric training in Townsville. He worked in the public system for a number of years before deciding to work independently as a private psychiatrist. He has experience in most areas of forensic psychiatry having previously held the position of Director of the Forensic and Secure Services for North Queensland (Australia). His areas of clinical interest include anxiety disorders, pain disorders, psychoses and gender or sexual issues. His approach is biological with a strong focus on modern evidence based treatments.

Kira strives to provide a safe and welcoming space for all clients regardless of their needs or presentations. Kira uses multiple approaches specific to the client which can include, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She works with NDIS, DVA, Medicare, Child Safety, Youth Justice, Queensland Corrections, Workcover and privately referred clients. Furthermore, Kira has many years of experience in psychometric testing and diagnosis including but not limited to cognitive, personality, mood, behavioural and adaptive functioning testing. On her weekends Kira enjoys exercising, reading and enjoying a good coffee.
