What is the wait-time for an appointment?

Psychology - it varies, but generally, to see a psychologist for the first time, there is a 4-8 week waitlist. If an appointment becomes available sooner, we will let you know.

Psychiatry - Due to very high demand for services, we are not accepting new referrals for psychiatry.

Once a referral has been received, we will contact you to advise of the wait time.

I’m not sure if i need to see a psychiatrist Or a psychologist. What’s the difference?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors with at least 11 years of training. Psychiatrists have studied first to become a medical doctor. They can diagnose, treat and prevent mental, emotional and behavioural disorders. They can prescribe medications, like antidepressants, and can usually admit you to hospital if this is needed.

Clinical Psychologists usually have 6-7-years of training focused on mental, emotional and behavioural disorders. They can not prescribe medication, but instead use talk-therapy to teach people strategies to manage their presenting issues.

A good place to start is to see your GP to discuss your concerns and they will be able to refer you to the appropriate clinician.

Do you bulk bill

No, we do not bulk bill.

For psychology, fees range from $200 - $250 per session. With a current GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan, you are eligible to receive a Medicare rebate. Some private health funds offer a rebate for mental health services and you could contact your fund directly to enquire.

Fees to see the psychiatrist vary according to the reason for referral and length of the appointment. Once we receive a referral, we will advise of the fee including out-of-pocket and Medicare rebate.
